Icebug supports Canada’s threatened wilderness
Every year, Icebug donates at least 1% of its sales to environmental organizations and projects that do good. Lobban Erwin works at CPAWS, our environmental partner in Canada, and we asked him to tell us more about the organization’s work.
What is CPAWS?
We are Canada’s leader in conservation with over 60 years of success based on our expertise, public education and advocacy, relationships, and local knowledge.
We are focused on conserving nature to respond to the dual crises of accelerated biodiversity loss and climate change.
How does your organization work, and what kinds of actions do you take?
CPAWS advocates for the effective, long-term protection of ecologically and culturally-significant land, freshwater, and ocean areas in Canada. Working in a way that respects the sovereignty and leadership of Indigenous nations, we achieve our mission through knowledge-based advocacy, and public education and engagement, underpinned by collaboration and partnership.
Through our regional chapters across the country and our national office, we work collaboratively with Indigenous partners, governments, communities, and supporters to protect the land and water that are vital to Canada’s biodiversity, climate resilience, and collective well-being.

What is the best thing about being part of your community?
Being part of the CPAWS community means joining a passionate network of nature champions who care deeply about the future of Canada’s wilderness. Together, they are making a tangible difference for nature, for our communities today, and for generations to come.
Supporting CPAWS gives you opportunities to learn about nature protection, take action, and connect with others who share your values. That could be through specific campaigns to protect threatened ecosystems, events that celebrate the importance of Canada’s wilderness, or initiatives that advance Indigenous-led conservation.

What are your hopes and expectations for the partnership with Icebug?
CPAWS and Icebug share a deep passion for getting people outdoors. We both want to help and encourage people to experience the beauty of nature, while understanding the importance of protecting the natural spaces that make those adventures possible.
We hope this partnership will inspire more people to connect deeply with nature, whether that’s through trail running, hiking, or simply spending time outside. Our expectation is that, together, we can amplify awareness of the need to conserve Canada’s oceans, lands, lakes, and forests, while demonstrating how outdoor recreation and environmental stewardship go hand in hand.
By combining Icebug’s strong sustainability values with CPAWS’s conservation expertise and national reach, we can engage new audiences, spark meaningful conversations, and encourage tangible action to protect the natural world we love and all depend on.
