Light as a bird – grip like a tractor

All good runs start with a good grip. Take a closer look at Icebug's model Acceleritas 9 RB9X and you will discover that the sole has the same pattern as a tractor tire, a machine that can plow through anything. The result is the feeling of total freedom and fun running; it’s an unbeatable experience.

Low weight, low drop, and maximum grip are the hallmarks of Acceleritas. It's our lightest trail shoe, made for minimalist trail running and the feeling of almost running barefoot. Or, as close to barefoot as you can get in a trail shoe with protection against wetness and sharp stones on the surface.

This is freedom packed in a running shoe, made for you who love to have full control over the surface. The RB9X sole provides a good grip even on wet surfaces. The lightweight upper absorbs minimal water – a decisive factor for a shoe designed to perform well in all the elements of nature. The shoe's wet weight is almost as low as its dry weight.

These days, the Acceleritas also has a slightly wider toe box to provide comfort to a more diverse range of feet. A nicer fit with just as good performance.

Reinforced Upper

Our goal was to preserve the agile and soft feeling of the upper, while increasing durability. We developed the new upper in close collaboration with our supplier to find the perfect balance of strength and soft comfort.

The new very durable upper fabric is called Perspair®, a woven fabric made with a Jaquard technique that is designed to reduce seams. It combines several yarns, such as a super strong aramid fiber.

How Acceleritas Was Born

It all started in the spring of 2010, in a muddy field outside Ulricehamn, Sweden. Our former product developer and passionate orienteer Erik Öhlund was at home on his farm when something caught his eye — the tractor tires.

Those heavy treads powered through thick mud and slippery hills without losing grip. That’s when the idea struck: what if a trail shoe could do the same?

Back in his small workshop, Erik began experimenting. Rubber patterns turned into prototypes, and soon the Acceleritas was born — a lightweight, aggressive trail shoe built for speed on soft and muddy terrain.

The result: a true Icebug original that’s been loved by runners and adventure racers ever since.
